We often hear the saying, “people don’t leave companies, they leave managers.”  That statement is partially correct – in today’s transient job market where there are new tech companies formed every day, it is really difficult to retain top talent even if you are a strong manager.  So, how do you maximize your chances of keeping your most valued employees?  Helping them see the vision, feel a part of the vision and believe they have an opportunity to materially impact the vision is critical.  While as a CEO this may seem second nature to you, for many of your first line managers it may not be obvious at all.
